James Wan is one of the most prolific directors working in the industry as of today. He specializes in horror movies and not one horror film from him has been disappointing. He is one of the pioneers of redefining the horror genre in the 2000s. It all started with Saw. After making one of the best horror films ever for an extremely cheap budget, James Wan was apparently being head hunted for new projects. His movie gave birth to an entire franchise with one of the most iconic faces in horror films: the Jigsaw Killer. All the films that came after the original Saw movie were never up to the quality of the original. After making Saw he went on to make films like The Conjuring, Insidious. Both of these films were converted into huge franchises as well. His latest project Malignant was awesome and I’ve been waiting ever since then to see what he does next. Well, Wan isn’t back in the director’s chair but he has produced a new horror film- Night Swim, that looks superb.
Night Swim Teases An Eerie Thriller!
Night Swim is an upcoming horror film produced by James Wan and Blumhouse. The film is directed by Bryce McGuire with a screenplay from McGuire and Rod Blackhurst. It is based on the 2014 short film of the same name by McGuire and Blackhurst. The official synopsis of the film only mentions, a woman swimming in her pool at night terrorized by an evil spirit. Night Swim stars Wyatt Russell, Kerry Condon, Nancy Lenehan, etc. The trailer is pretty is kept pretty simple where a family moves into a new house and instead of it being a haunted house, it looks like we’ll see a haunted pool film.
The trailer does do a good job of keeping the mystery alive as to what is beneath the pool. No creatures are shown. It looked as if a scene from the film was released online. I have a feeling that there will be more to this film than just being a haunted pool movie.
