Although, I think it is fair to say that the perception of the star has demeaned after the entire Amber Heard fiasco even if he won the court case in the end. Which is exactly why the box office dependency of the actor was challenged, rendering movie studios hesitant of investing in him. The actor’s next few ventures were crucial for him as the audience reception for these films will determine the trajectory of his career. Jeanne du Barry is Depp’s first screen appearance since the trial. The film is helmed by French director Maïwenn and will see him playing King Louis XV. Jeanne du Barry First Reactions – Overwhelmingly Positive Response?
Johnny Depp’s comeback film has apparently received a 7- minute long standing ovation at Cannes Film Festival. Depp was surprised by the amazing response to the film, acknowledged the audience by waving from the balcony while Maïwenn broke down into tears and addressed the audience: “I want to share this moment with my lover, with my producer, with Le Pacte. It was a production that was difficult to finance … and I want to share this moment with all my team across the theater.”
