After Neo, John Wick might be the most famous character Keanu Reeves has ever played. The Matrix star played John Wick in the 2014 Action/Thriller film and since then has become a fan favorite. The film did wonders critically and at the Box Office as well. As much of the credit of that goes to Keanu Reeves, the film too was extremely gripping and introduced us to a new world. A world unknown to us until now- the world of assassins. The film started on the point that Wick’s dog had been murdered and after that it is a sheer bloodbath. The film had two follow ups where we see Reeves reprising his role as John Wick and both installments continued the success march John Wick has had. John Wick: Chapter 4 is part of the two part finale the creators have planned for Keanu Reeves’ character.
The 4th addition to the franchise couples Keanu Reeves with his Matrix co-star Laurence Fishburne. After a brief tease of the film at last year’s CinemaCon, Lionsgate has released an official image of Keanu Reeves as John Wick. The image was delivered via text, to fans who had signed up for updates from the studio over the course of the last year or so, after a brief tease sent out via text earlier this week. John is still on the run from the world of assassins and is likely to have some of the largest-scale action set pieces yet in the new franchise. A class war has been caused because of John’s actions between the different factions of the assassin community. In a recent appearance, John Wick director gave us an update on the future of the franchise.
Chad Stahelski Talks about John Wick Chapter 5
The John Wick Franchise director- Chad Stahelski in a recent interview with Collider talked about the upcoming John Wick Chapter 4. He even talked about the possibility of more movies in the franchise.
“[As of right] now it is the studio’s [full] intention to continue the franchise,” Stahelski said. “And look, I’m not going to we’ve all seen directors and producers where they go, ‘Yes. I don’t know. I guess I’ll do five,’ or it’s like, ‘Oh, yeah, yeah.’ And I’m just, ‘Look, man. ‘John Wick 1′ was a goof,” he said. “We made it as a fun little action movie that we’d like to see.’ And the fact that now nine years later, it’s changed our lives. It changed my life. It changed Keanu’s life. It’s changed a lot of other people’s lives. And people still want to see more.”
Stahelski further added “We’re also busy preparing scripts for the next two installments of our John Wick action franchise, with John Wick 4 slated to hit theatres Memorial Day weekend 2022,” Lionsgate CEO John Feltheimer said at the time. “We hope to shoot both John Wick 4 & 5 back to back when Keanu becomes available early next year.” Currently we know that there are two movies already in development, one releasing next year. We have to wait for a confirmation on further sequels, if there are any.
The franchise is so big right now there is a spin-off under development. The details of it are scant but of what we know it will be TV expansion of the franchise and will follow the infamous assassins world hotel. The Franchise stars Keanu Reeves in the lead role. The other cast includes Clancy Brown, Donnie Yen, Bill Skasrsgard, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins, Marko Zaror, Rina Sawayama, Ana de Armas, Ian Mcshane, Lance Reddick and Laurence Fishburne.
John Wick: Chapter 4 is slated to release to on 24th March 2023.
