Lord of the Rings

Lord of the Rings is one of the biggest names when it comes to pop-culture significance. Be it JRR Tolkien’s books or Peter Jackson’s films. Both are celebrated and considered to be the absolute best. With Jackson’s last film in the trilogy- Lord of the Rings: Return of the King bagging the Best Picture award at the Academy Awards 2004. This is simply one of the many accolades the films has earned throughout the years. Many fans still believe the books are better as the immersive quality books offer is something the films cannot do. The success of the three LOTR films led to another trilogy forming at WB- The Hobbit trilogy, Peter Jackson returned for these films. The new Amazon Prime Series – The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has also brought the franchise back into the conversation after the Hobbit films ended.

Second season of The Rings of Power is coming very soon, quite possibly later this year of early next year. However, as we thought that this was the only live action adaptation of the legendary books, Warner Bros. has just announced new movies which will adaptations of the books.

New Lord of the Rings Movies Are Coming Soon!

Warner Bros. Discovery made an announcement today that sent shockwaves throughout the internet. The announcement was that New Line Entertainment and Middle Earth Enterprises are collaborating together to work on multiple Lord of the Rings feature films that would be set in Tolkien’s fantasy world. This announcement came after New Line Entertainment acquired Middle Earth Enterprises. This is a multi-year agreement between the two production houses which are under Warner Bros. Discovery.

These films, which will be based on both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, will be new projects in addition to the anime film The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, which New Line is currently in production on as well. These films would mostly be based on Tolkien’s first three books and not his posthumously published work The Silmarillion, which provides additional Middle-earth mythology because Amazon is already doing that, so why would you invest so heavily on something that is already been done.

If Warner Bros. makes movies based on the first Tolkien books then it would most likely not be a remake of Jackson’s films. They would find new stories in Tolkien’s huge world. If that happens then Rings of Power is in danger because the fans already don’t appreciate the storyline that they have taken and some creative calls. If Warner Bros. hit it out of the park and adapt a fan favorite storyline then Amazon is doomed. This announcement would already have given them some heart attacks, after all they’ve invested a billion dollars in it.

All eight episodes of Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power Season One are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
