Mardaani 3: Rani Mukerji Is Back And She Has Zero Chill For Criminals

Buckle up because Senior Superintendent of Police Shivani Shivaji Roy is officially trading the big screen for your living room. Yash Raj Films confirmed that Mardaani 3 will hit Netflix on March 27, 2026. This digital drop comes exactly eight weeks after its theatrical debut on January 30. If you missed the cinema run, prepare your snacks and your nerves. This one is reportedly the darkest chapter in the franchise yet.

The Plot Is Not For The Faint Of Heart

The story centers on a terrifying mystery involving 93 missing girls who vanished over a span of just three months. Shivani Shivaji Roy finds herself diving into a grim world of beggar mafias and illegal medical experiments. The investigation starts in India but eventually stretches all the way to Colombo, Sri Lanka. This is not just a simple cat-and-mouse game. It is a high-stakes race against a criminal network using a mutated HPV virus for drug trials. Yes, you read that correctly. The stakes are literally biological this time.

A New Villain Enters The Chat

Move over, Tahir Raj Bhasin and Vishal Jethwa. The franchise finally introduces its first female antagonist, named Amma. Portrayed by Mallika Prasad, Amma is the ruthless mastermind behind the trafficking ring. She is cold, calculated, and lives in a lair that looks like something out of a fever dream. Shivani also has to deal with a mole inside her own force named Ramanujan. The tension between Shivani and Amma is the core of the film. It is basically a masterclass in “don’t mess with these women.”

Who Is Behind The Camera?

While Gopi Puthran directed the previous installment, Abhiraj Minawala takes the reins for the threequel. He brings a more procedural and gritty tone to the series. The cast also features Janki Bodiwala as Constable Fatima Anwar and Jisshu Sengupta returning as Shivani’s husband. Even though the film faced stiff competition at the box office from “Border 2,” it still managed to earn around 77 crore globally. It now stands as the highest-grossing film in the Mardaani trilogy.

Why You Should Watch It?

Not that there aren’t enough reasons already, but let us still give you some:

  1. Rani Mukerji Is A Beast: She continues to prove that female-led action films can pack a punch.
  2. Social Urgency: Like its predecessors, the film tackles real-world horrors like child exploitation.
  3. The Climax: Without giving too much away, let us just say Shivaniโ€™s brand of justice involves a very poetic and medical form of revenge.
  4. International Stakes: The shift to Sri Lanka adds a global scale that the previous films lacked.

This movie reminds everyone that Shivani Shivaji Roy does not need a “female version” of a male hero title. She is her own brand of justice. Mark your calendars for March 27 because the Babbar Sherni is coming to your Netflix feed.
