Memory is a new drama starring Jessica Chastain and Peter Sarsgaard. The film is from director Michel Franco is best known for his film After Lucia that won the Prize Un Certain Regard at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. His films typically deal with themes of dysfunctional families. Memory focuses on a social worker named Sylvia whose structured life is blown apart when Saul follows her home from their high school reunion. Their surprise encounter profoundly impacts both of them as they open the door to the past.
The film released in theatres during the crowded month of December. It is natural that a low-key like was missed by many. However, if you want to watch the film now then don’t worry you can start watching it digitally very soon.
Memory’s Digital Debut Will Happen Soon!
When To Stream reports that Michel Franco’s Memory will be available for purchase or rent on digital and VOD platforms like Apple iTunes, Vudu and Amazon Prime Video from February 20th, 2024. This means that the film will have an exclusive theatrical run of 59 days. The film world-premiered at the 2023 Venice International Film Festival (where it won star Peter Sarsgaard the Volpi Cup for Best Actor).
The film was reportedly made on a budget of $100,000 and grossed $381,052 in its short theatrical run. At the time of writing, Memory has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 85% from 94 reviews (Audience score: 71%) and an IMDb score of 7/10. Along with Chastain and Sarsgaard, the film also stars Merritt Wever, Brooke Timber, Elsie Fisher, Josh Charles and Jessica Harper.
