MaxXxine

Ti West started off last year with a bang as he released his much awaited venture – X. As dry as the title seems, the film is just as good. When I watched X, I had zero expectations. I tuned in simply to enjoy myself for 2 hours but what I got was so much more. The film was layered, comedic, had a great wacky premise and out of everything it had amazing direction. When the prequel of the film released – Pearl, I was expecting an outlandish film, however, the film was completely different than what I had imagined and for the better. It was more of a drama, almost a character study which could’ve easily come across as boring if it was not for Mia Goth’s unbelievable performance. Given my love for the franchise, I am incredibly hyped for the final installment – MaxXxine. And after months of waiting, we finally have some update on the threequel.

MaxXxine Is Described As A Slasher Whodunnit!

In their latest edition, Scream horror magazine described the upcoming film MaxXxine as a “good old whodunit slasher”. This means that Ti West’s next will be as much a murder mystery as it will be a slasher film. So, one can expect the third and final instalment of West’s X franchise to be something like the Scream movies. It definitely won’t be as funny and definitely would tackle the same themes as the previous two movies from the franchise but this marriage of genres suggests a film like Scream.

MaxXxine acts as a sequel to the 2022 films X and Pearl, following Mia Goth’s Maxine Minx six years after the farmstead massacre in X. The  official plot synopsis for the film reads, “A young woman sets out to make it as an actress in 1980s Los Angeles.” A24 is distributing the film, just like the previous two films, although a specific release date has not been revealed at this time.

Along with Goth, MaXXXine has a powerpack cast with Elizabeth Debicki (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3), Moses Sumney (The Idol), Michelle Monaghan (Nanny), Bobby Cannavale (The Watcher), Lily Collins (Emily in Paris), Halsey (Americana), Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul), and Kevin Bacon (City on a Hill).

MaXXXine doesn’t have an official release as of now but it is estimated to release in early 2024.
