Psychological thriller Miller’s Girl stars Wednesday actor Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman. Other than Emmy-winner Freeman, Ortega gets a strong cast including Dagmara Dominczyk, Christine Adams, Gideon Adlon, and Bashir Salahuddin. Written and directed by Jade Halley Bartlett, the producers of the film are Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Josh Fagen, and Mary-Margaret Kunze. Lionsgate released the trailer of Miller’s Girl today. Below is the official trailer and some other details we know so far.
‘Miller’s Girl’ Official Trailer Is Out
Miller’s Girl follows female student Cairo Sweet (Jenna Ortega) and her complex relationship with her teacher Jonathan Miller (Martin Freeman). The film will deal with the depth of their relationship and how that threatens to destroy everything Mr. Miller has built throughout his life, starting with his job. Cairo is a mysterious and talented young writer who seems destined for greatness with some guidance from his teacher. The first time they meet, Miller finds her an avid reader gifted with her words. He also finds her sense of humor charming. To test her abilities, he offers her a special short story assignment. The storyline revolves around the fallout of the project. A brief glimpse of the short story hints at an inappropriate relationship that Jonathan Miller won’t stand for.
The official synopsis reads: “A talented young writer embarks on a creative odyssey when her teacher assigns a project that entangles them both in an increasingly complex web. As lines blur and their lives intertwine, professor and protégé must confront their darkest selves while straining to preserve their individual sense of purpose and the things they hold most dear.”
Before this year ends, Oretega’s Finestkind will be out in Paramount+ on December 15. In 2024, Netflix’s horror-comedy Wednesday Season 2 will be out. Miller’s Girl will premiere at the Palm Springs Film Festival and runs from January 4 through 15. It will hit theaters on January 26, 2024.
