Jordan Peele, the American actor, comedian, writer and director is coming out with a new film – Nope. He has previously stunned us with his directorial debut horror film – Get Out. The psychological horror film blew everyone’s minds away with its engaging screenplay, powerful performances and the the deeper themes imbedded in the story that elevate the quality of the film. Peele is known for always including social demons like racism in his films that act as theme to connect with the audience on a deeper level so as not to wander around the surface anymore. Even if he displays societal issues in his films that act as observational horror, he makes sure to give audiences actual horror that satisfies on the promise that his films promise. Not simply lecturing audiences about the wrongdoings of our ancestors. His next venture called Us (2019) was no different.
Peele dialed up the horror and fantasy element in this film although keeping his remarkable style intact. The film had incredible performances from Lupita Nyong’o that started Oscar buzz. Although, the Academy was too ignorant to consider her for Best Actress even if it was one of the best performances of that year. However, the Academy did recognize Peele’s brilliance as they awarded him Best Original Screenplay Award for Get Out. Naturally after giving audiences back to back hits, Peele’s next film was highly anticipated and it wasn’t disappointing. While it may have not been as good as his previous two ventures but it was certainly good horror film. If you missed your opportunity to witness the spectacle in theatres, don’t worry. You can watch the film this week while sitting on your own couch and get soaked in its horror.
Nope Comes to On Demand on 26th?
The film stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeuh, Brandon Perea, Michael Wincott and Keith David. The film was made on a budget of $68 Million and it was doing quite well with critics and audiences. The film has a Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes with 83% and a 7.3/10 score on IMDb. The film performed well at the Box Office as it grossed $133 Million since its release on 22nd July. While the film is just entering new markets like India, I don’t think this figure is going to change massively.
The film’s Box Office performance suggests that Jordan Peele is still able to attract audiences to the big screen. The collection of the film is almost double the budget of the film. This is a huge even if the number itself might look small or underwhelming. As the film’s theatrical run is at its end, it looks like Jordan Peele’s spectacle is ready to come to the small screen. The official Twitter handle of the film, tweeted to announce that the film will be available On Demand this Friday i.e., 26th August 2022.

Jordan Peele in an recent interview talked about how he got the idea to make something like Nope, “I started off wanting to make a film that would put an audience in the immersive experience of being in the presence of a UFO,” Peele previously told Empire. “I wanted to make a spectacle, something that would promote my favorite art form and my favorite way of watching that art form: the theatrical experience. As I started writing the script, I started to dig into the nature of spectacle, our addiction to spectacle, and the insidious nature of attention. So, that’s what it’s about. And it’s about a brother and sister and healing their relationship.”
Earlier this year, Jordan Peele revealed to ComicBook.com how nightmares inspire his as they intersect in his psyche and he turn them into stories, “Nightmares have this uncanny valley. They have this surreal, liminal space that I just love,” Peele mentioned. “I love when something’s creepy in a way you almost don’t even know why, but it just is. And so, you know, when I have a really juice nightmare, it’s in that tone. And that’s what it is. That’s what I’m doing. I’m taking some of the way some of these things intersect in my psyche in a very dark way, trying to turn them into a story.”
Nope is currently playing in theatres near you and will available On Demand on Friday, 26th August 2022.
