Pirates of the Caribbean used to be one of Disney’s most popular franchises before the fifth film. Even though its last entry was disliked by many critics, it managed to gross over $790 Million worldwide. The franchise has grossed over $4.5 Billion since 2003 and it’s first three entries are quite popular and adored by fans and critics alike. Many of you might be aware that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is in development and is all set to breathe new air into the franchise. But one of the things that made POTC what it is, was Johnny Depp’s legendary portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow. The bad news is that he will never return to the franchise.
Will Johnny Depp be in Pirates of the Caribbean 6?
In one word, no. Not only won’t he return in Pirates of the Caribbean 6, but he will never return to the franchise as a whole. Johnny Depp has clearly stated this in a court hearing against ex-wife Amber Heard. As reported by Variety, in cross-examination by Heard’s attorney, Ben Rottenborn, Johnny Depp made his point very clear. Have a look at their conversation below:
The fact is, Mr. Depp, if Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film? Correct?”
Depp answered: “That is true, Mr. Rottenborn.
He has made it very clear that no matter how much money he’s offered, he will never return as Jack Sparrow in any Pirates of the Caribbean film. It comes as no shocker though, as production chief Sean Bailey confirmed that Depp’s character is no longer a part of franchise when he was removed. He stated in an interview that he wants to “bring a new energy and vitality” to the franchise. Yet, fans still speculated his return once the lawsuit ends, however, now it’s clear that the actor himself won’t return to the role.
Who is replacing Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean?
Now that Johnny Depp is out and there’s no question about it, the question is who will replace him? The answer is no one can replace Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, so Disney will not go that way. Instead they will introduce a new set of lead characters. Reports suggest that Margot Robbie is all set to play the lead as an unrevealed character in the new film. While it is still to be confirmed officially, it looks quite promising.
That aside, Kaya Scoldelario, who appeared in the fifth film, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, will return. She had revealed earlier that she is contractually signed on for a sixth installment of the film series and this makes her return probable. So, Margot Robbie and Scoldelario will most probably lead the next film with a potential return by Brenton Thwaites, who played Henry (Will Turner’s son). Apart from that, Orlando Bloom (Will Turner), Kiera Knightly (Elizabeth Swann), and Bill Nighy (Davy Jones) might return as hinted by POTC 5 post credits scene.
You are so stupid. Pirates of the caribbean 6 will fail. No one cares about it without Jack sparrow. I have read that people are re watching pirates 5 on pay per view. You are doomed. I am a johnny depp supporter. You are idiots. Screw Disney from now on.
