Prey Early Reviews Roundup - One of The Best Predator Movies!

Online discussions about Prey, the Predator prequel movie, have started. Once intended for theatres, Prey will now make its online streaming service debut on Hulu as one of its original film releases. Prey was given a special screening by Collider at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, and now early reviews are starting to come in for the movie, which is receiving high praise from those who have seen it. Prey received a standing ovation following its SDCC screening, and many are applauding the film for its gore, action, suspense, and return to franchise roots. Here are some first reactions and responses to Prey from critics and fans:

Audiences Are Very Impressed With The Predator Prequel – Prey

Prey is technically the first prequel movie (timeline wise) because the main franchise movies—Predator, Predator 2, Predators, The Predator, and the AVP: Aliens vs Predator—have all been set in the present world.

A Comanche warrior named Naru (Amber Midthunder) battles the highly evolved alien predator that hunts people for sport in Dan Trachtenberg’s Prey, which is set some 300 years before the events of the first Predator movie.

The Predator (2018), the last film in the series, was a flop for former studio 20th Century Fox, which caused a change in the franchise’s course once Disney acquired it. Additionally, it’s the first Predator movie without the word “Predator” in the title, serving as a reset to the series now that it’s under a new banner.

The Movie Got A Standing Ovation At SDCC 2022

Directing episodes of Black Mirror, The Boys, and The Lost Symbol, Trachtenberg has exclusively worked in television since showcasing his command of the sci-fi genre in 10 Cloverfield Lane.

The Predator series has experienced many highs and lows, with numerous sequel and spinoff announcements coming and going over the years. Prey, which serves as a kind of reboot for the series, is likely to capitalise on positive reviews and draw people back to the franchise via streaming.

If we go by the Comic-Con screening and comments from both critics and fans, Prey may help prove to be a showcase for more mature-rated, Disney-owned entertainment on streaming or otherwise, as the studio stretches its wings more and more into the adult-content space.

Prey premieres exclusively on Hulu on August 5.
