Nosferatu New Image Released!

Robert Eggers has become a huge name in the cinephile circle thanks to his folklore horror movies. The filmmaker has made three feature films until now including The Witch, The Lighthouse and The Northman. All his films have attained critical acclaim and the films also cause good dent at the box office. After impressing the audience with a Shakespearean tale, Eggers has returned to his horror roots as he is now adapting the iconic 1922 vampire movie by filmmaker F. W. Murnau. The film is a reimagining of the classic story much like The Northman. Even though, Nosferatu release date is well over a year from now, the makers of the film are not letting the film fly down the radar as every two-three days we have a new terrifying still from the film. The one released today might be the bet of the lot.

Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu Releases Another Terrifying Image!

While we have received stills from Nosferatu, none of them offered us any look of the titular character. Naturally, fans were curious to see how the iconic character will appear in Eggers’ remake. Well, this new image partly shows the iconic Graf Orlok, played by Bill Skarsgård. It gives us a glimpse of how he will look in the new movie. Given the photo only offers a hint of how creepy the actor will look as the iconic character but the mystery just makes it better. We can also see Nicholas Hoult’s Jonathan Harker terrified of the entity.

Watch the newly released Nosferatu image below:

In Nosferatu, Depp plays Ellen Hutter, the wife of real estate agent Thomas Hutter (Nicholas Hoult, Renfield). Eggers teased that Depp is absolutely phenomenal with her performance even more Ellen’s story than previous versions.” On Skarsgård’s Orlok, Eggers added, “I’ll say that Bill has so transformed, I’m fearful that he might not get the credit that he deserves because he’s just… he’s not there. He felt like honoring [the previous Orlok actors] who had come before him. It’s all very subtle. But I think the main thing is that he’s even more a folk vampire. In my opinion he looks like a dead Transylvanian nobleman, and in a way that we’ve never actually seen what an actual dead Transylvanian nobleman would look like and be dressed like.”

Adding to that Eggers said, “There are things that are [actor Max] Schreck-like but I felt we had to do something else,” Eggers shared with Total Film. “Basically I was like, ‘What would a dead Transylvanian nobleman actually look like for real?’ Bill lost a tremendous amount of weight.”

The filmmaker continued, “He’s so transformed in every aspect that I don’t know if people will give him the credit. You can see Bill [as Pennywise] in the IT makeup; you can’t detect any Bill here. He worked with an opera coach to lower his voice an octave. I think people are going to think we treated it digitally, but that’s his performance.”

When asked how scary is the remake, Eggers didn’t hold anything back, “Yeah, it’s a scary film. It’s a horror movie. It’s a Gothic horror movie”. Eggers teased a truly terrifying adaptation, “I do think that there hasn’t been an old-school Gothic movie that’s actually scary in a while. And I think that the majority of audiences will find this one to be the case.”

Bill Skarsgård has been cast as the new Count Orlok, while The Idol star Lily-Rose Depp is also among the lead stars. The supporting cast has Willem Dafoe, Nicholas Hoult, Emma Corin, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Nicole Kidman and Ralph Ineson.

Nosferatu will premiere in theaters on December 25th 2024.
