Slime Movie All We Know About Kid Cudi's Entergalactic Follow-Up 2

Kid Cudi, known for his genre-blending music and deep creative vision, made waves in the animation world with Entergalactic (2022). The film, which shared a visual style reminiscent of Into the Spider-Verse, was a groundbreaking mix of storytelling, animation, and mood-setting alternative R&B. Winning an Emmy for Achievement in Animation, Entergalactic was praised by critics and audiences alike for its unique aesthetic, hypnotic soundtrack, and immersive world-building. Since then, fans have eagerly awaited a sequel or a series continuation. However, Cudi himself confirmed back in 2022 that a direct follow-up is not in the works.

But there’s good news. Instead of Entergalactic 2, Cudi is working on another animated feature titled Slime—a horror-infused, visually stunning film that aims to retain the artistic and sonic signature of Entergalactic while taking viewers on a trippy, unsettling ride. Here’s everything we know so far about Slime.

Kid Cudi’s Slime Movie – What Is It About?

After producing Ti West’s slasher trilogy (X, Pearl, MaXXXine), Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi) is set to star in and produce the upcoming animated film Slime. As reported by Deadline, Slime is described as “a classic monster movie decked out in fashion-forward video game skins that are wickedly satirical, scary as hell, and trippy AF.” The film marks the feature directorial debut of animator Jeron Braxton (Baby Demon), known for his surreal and hypnotic visual storytelling. The script is written by Brian Ash (The Boondocks), who also serves as an executive producer.

Set in a near-future dystopia, Slime follows Muna, an optimistic yet financially struggling young woman who signs up for a paid medical trial. What seems like a chance at easy money quickly turns into a nightmare when she is unknowingly injected with a foreign creature’s slime. Soon, she begins experiencing disturbing visions and developing destructive, uncontrollable powers. As she becomes a hunted fugitive, Muna kidnaps Glenn (played by Mescudi), a lab worker from the mega-corporation responsible for the injection. Together, they embark on a terrifying odyssey seeking refuge and a cure. But the central question remains—has Muna already evolved beyond human salvation?

A Visually and Sonically Immersive Experience

Much like Entergalactic, Slime aims to be a deeply sensory experience. The film’s aesthetic is expected to blend Braxton’s unique animation style with a rich, atmospheric soundtrack curated by Kid Cudi himself. Deadline states that the goal is to create a “sonic/visual experience” that mirrors Entergalactic’s hypnotic synergy between music and animation.

Cudi shared his enthusiasm for the project, stating:

“I’m always looking for what’s new and always trying to elevate what we know about music, film, TV, and animation. Jeron is a powerhouse creative at the forefront of culture, pushing boundaries with everything he does. I’m grateful to have him on the team and am ready to see him bring Slime to life. Mad Solar, we here.”

Slime Movie Production and Release Updates

Slime is being produced under Cudi’s Mad Solar banner, in collaboration with Hammerstone Studios and Capstone Global. The production team includes:

  1. Producers: Scott Mescudi, Karina Manashil, Dennis Cummings, Aaron Bergman, Alex Lebovici, and Jon Oakes.
  2. Executive Producers: Christian Mercuri, Courtney Chenn, Waylin Lin, and Brian Ash.

While the film’s development is confirmed, there haven’t been any major updates in recent months regarding a release date. However, given Cudi’s commitment to pushing creative boundaries, Slime is shaping up to be another unique and visually stunning addition to his filmography.

From redefining hip-hop with Man on the Moon to breaking barriers in animation with Entergalactic, Kid Cudi continues to evolve as a multidisciplinary artist. Slime promises to be another bold step in his journey, combining horror, surrealism, and music into an unforgettable cinematic experience. While details on Slime remain scarce, we’ll keep you posted on all future updates.
