Smile was one of the best horror films from the past year. The film starred Caitlin Stasey, Jessie T. Usher, Kyle Gallner, Rob Morgan, Nick Arapoglou, Dora Kiss, Robin Weigert, Gillian Zinser, Judy Reyes, Bob Leszczak and Scot Teller. The film is written and directed by Parker Finn. The film was not only a critical success but also a commercial hit as it grossed $216 million over a reported budget of $17 million. Smile had an intriguing premise, “After witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient, Dr. Rose Cotter starts experiencing frightening occurrences that she can’t explain. As an overwhelming terror begins taking over her life, Rose must confront her troubling past in order to survive and escape her horrifying new reality.”

As an original concept film was so successful, we’re getting another one. Smile might turn into another huge franchise in the horror genre if the sequel turns out to be a success as well.

Paramount Pictures posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), confirming that Smile 2 will release on October 18th, 2024 right around Halloween time. The sequel was officially greenlit last April at the 2023 CinemaCon, where Paramount Pictures revealed that Parker Finn will be returning to once again serve as the writer and director on the project. However, we only got the release date today as the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are finally ending thanks to the big Hollywood companies who are open for a discussion.

Smile is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video. Smile 2 will release in theatres near you on October 18th, 2024.
