The Boys in the Boat is a new sports drama based on Daniel James Brown’s 2013 The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The film is directed by George Clooney and stars Callum Turner, Joel Edgerton, Jack Mulhern, Hadley Robinson, Luke Slattery, and Courtney Henggeler. It is an MGM Studios production. The George Clooney directorial was made on a budget of $40 million but only earned $34.2 million in its theatrical run since Christmas. Despite focusing on a major event in US history, the film got lost in the crazy December competition and failed to even broke even. MGM is now looking for other methods to recover their money. In their quest to do so, they’re planning to release the film on digital platforms.
