The Conjuring 4: Last Rites – What The Return Of The First Demon And Annabelle Could Mean?

The last and final movie of the Conjuring Universe has us on the edge of our seats. The Conjuring: Last Rites, starring Vera Farmiga (Loraine Warren) and Patrick Wilson (Ed Warren), is all set to hit the theaters on September 5, 2025. And, the teaser is crazy and terrifying, because NEWSFLASH! The first-ever demon they encountered, and Annable, are coming back.
So, how does it affect the Last Rites, and what could we possibly expect from the terror encounters? Read on, because there is so much to unfold.
Revisit To The Smurl Haunting
Through the official trailer, we are introduced to the Smurl family, a family of 8. And, not-so-shockingly, there is an evil presence in the house. Lorraine notices, and her realization hits the couple harder than it ever could. It is a demon, and it’s the one they have seen before.
Because this particular demon has been encountered, and yet, it is back. Probably even before Ed and Lorraine got married, as she mentions in the trailer, “We were young, we were sacred… we ran away.” Way to relive trauma again.
The Conjuring 4: Last Rites Return Of Annabelle?
It is merely a flick of an eye, but we see the terrifyingly iconic Annabelle appear in the trailer. This doll has been the beginning of the Conjuring cinematic universe, if we tie Ed and Loraine into it. So, how does she break through the Warren’s museum and show up again?
Unless there is some collaboration between these demons, we are yet in the dark about how this demonic retrograde.
What Does This Mean For The Conjuring: Last Rites?
The Malthus, receding within the Annabelle doll, has been the centre of all bad things in most of the Conjuring movies. And, when such a demon is tied to the storyline, where the Warrens are facing their first-ever demonic entity again, it might tie all the things together.
Their past, their legacy in the field of demonology, their fights to remove evil- this movie will have to cover it all. At least this is what the fans are hoping.
So, put off all your work for September 5, because we have to figure out what the demons’ agenda is this time. Are there going to be past hallucinations? Revenge wars? More exorcising?
We will only know when it is released.
