Hunter-Schafer-Hunger-Games

Hunter Schafer, who starred in “Euphoria,” has joined the cast of Lionsgate’s “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.” She will appear alongside Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler in the studio’s attempt to reproduce that timeless Panem charm. Schafer will play Tigris Snow, Coriolanus Snow’s (Blyth) cousin and confidant. As “Hunger Games” fans are aware, Coriolanus Snow will eventually develop into the autocratic ruler of the dystopian society depicted in the books and movies, a leader with just a hint of psychopathy to go along with his slick demeanor.

Schafer made her acting debut as Jules In the critically acclaimed HBO series “Euphoria,”. A special episode of the series, which aired in January 2021, was also co-written and co-executive produced by her. Later in 2021, she was included on Time’s Next list of 100 emerging leaders who are reshaping the future. Schafer is currently working on The Neon movie Cuckoo, directed by Tilman Singer. But first, check out the first teaser for the movie here.

Everything We Know So Far About The Hunger Games Prequel

“The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” premiers in theatres across the globe on Nov. 17, 2023.

The prequel takes place Years before Coriolanus Snow (Blyth) becomes the ruthless President of Panem. A once-proud family that has fallen from prominence in a post-war Capitol, the 18-year-old is the last chance for his waning lineage. With the 10th annual Hunger Games nearing, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to train Lucy Gray Baird (Zegler), the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. Snow believes he may be able to change the odds in their favour after Lucy Gray seizes Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony. Combining their instincts for theatrics and newly acquired political savvy, Snow and Lucy’s battle against time to survive will finally expose who is a songbird and who is a snake.

The prequel will be directed by Francis Lawrence, who also helmed “Catching Fire,” “Mockingjay Part One”, and “Mockingjay Part Two” in the franchise. Along with Lawrence, Producing partners Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson, who oversaw the other films in the series, are back. Suzanne Collins, Tim Palen, and Jim Miller will serve as executive producers.

The latest screenplay draft is by Michael Lesslie, famous for Assassin’s Creed. Lesslie expands upon the previous scripts by “Hunger Games” author Suzanne Collins and “Little Miss Sunshine” creator Michael Arndt. The screenplay is based on Collins’ bestselling book series.

Collins’ dystopian novels and movie adaptations were tremendous hits when they first came out, making readers and viewers excited for this upcoming adventure. The series became a cult classic and broke box office records from 2012 to 2015, earning over $3 billion worldwide. They also helped launch the careers of its young stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth.
