The young adult adventure fantasy drama, The Hunger Games franchise is coming back with a prequel titled, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Produced by Lionsgate, it’s now officially confirmed that actress Hunter Schafer is now part of the cast. She’s going to appear alongside Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler. The Hunger Games Prequel Release Date
Schafer will play the role of Tigris Snow. She’s the cousin of Coriolanus and his confidant, advising him in every matter.
The film is currently scheduled to release on Nov.17 2023. The previous four films in the franchise earned collectively over $3billion world wide. The last film, Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 2 released in 2014 and eight years later she’s The current film is an adaptation of the Suzanne Collins novel of the same name. Filmmaker Francis Lawrence who helmed three of the four Hunger Games films, returns to direct the prequel and Michael Lesslie wrote the screenplay.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes Premise
The official plot synopsis from Lionsgate is as follows:
“Years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. But, after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favor. Uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird and a snake.”
