New Line Cinema & Warner Bros. have announced the voice actors for the Lord of the Rings: The War of The Rohirrim animation film. After more than two decades, this is first Lord of the Rings for both production companies based on the appendices of Tolkein’s book. Even though the studios have previously made The Hobbit trilogy, that’s based on a separate book and a prequel to LOTR series. The news comes amidst the hype gearing up for Amazon’s live-action Tolkien series Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power.
The Lord of The Rings: The War of The Rohirrim Plot, Cast & Release Details
The movie centers around the House of Helm Hammerhand, the great King of Rohan, and a character from the J.R.R. Tolkien book’s appendix. Succession actor, Cox from the award-winning HBO drama series is supposed to provide voice for the lead role.
The anime feature, directed by Kenji Kamiyama takes place 183 years before the events of the Lord of the Rings films. The plot is supposed to be a daring last stand of Helm and his people against deadly enemies like Wulf and a cunning Dunlending lord thirsty for vengeance.
Hammerhand’s daughter Hera is played by Wise(A Walk in the Woods), and Luke Pasqualino(Snowpiercer) will play the evil antagonist Wulf. Otto, reprises her role as Eowyn from The Lord of The Rings films and plays the role of the narrator. Actors like Lorraine Ashbourne (Netflix’s Bridgerton), Yazdan Qafouri (I Came By), Benjamin Wainwright (BBC One’s World on Fire), Laurence Ubong Williams (Gateway), Shaun Dooley (Netflix’s The Witcher), Michael Wildman (Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw), Jude Akuwudike (Beasts of No Nation), Bilal Hasna (BBC’s Sparks) and Janine Duvitski (ITV’s Benidorm). were also part of the cast.
The film is currently slated to release on April 12, 2024 in theaters.
