The Nun 2 is the sequel to the The Nun, the blockbuster from The Conjuring universe, which was poorly received by critics but did wonders at the box office. The horror flick still remains to be the highest grossing film from the famous horror franchise. The Michael Chaves directorial has opened up to better reviews than most of the films in the franchise. Made on a teensy budget of $38 million, The Nun II has done extraordinary business so far. The sequel has collected $206 million in 21 days of theatrical run. With this collection, The Nun II has become the highest grossing horror film of 2023 beating Insidious: The Red Door. Despite this amazing success, Warner Bros. has decided to make the film available for online purchase fairly quickly.
The Nun 2 Gets A Quick Online Release!
As revealed by When To Stream, The Nun II will be available for purchase online on VOD/digital platforms starting on October 3, 2023 with fans able to buy the film on platforms like YouTube and Amazon. This is a quick turnaround from Warner Bros., as the film is coming to digital only a mere 25 days after the sequel initially premiered in theaters on September 8. This theatre to digital window marks one of the shortest for Warner Bros. and this is a studio who is not a big fan of the big screen right now.
The Flash and Blue Beetle, both box office bombs, became available digitally after only 32 days in theaters. Meg 2: The Trench on the other hand, only ran in theaters for a meager 21 days before it hit VOD marketplaces. The only exception to this aggressive theatre to digital trend from Warner Bros. is Barbie – 53 days, as the Margot Robbie starrer is the highest grossing film of the year.
