Titanic Re-Release Planned for 2023

To commemorate its 25th anniversary, a new theatrical release of the multiple Oscar winner and box office sensation Titanic is scheduled for Valentine’s Day next year. According to Deadline, a remastered version will be released by Disney beginning on February 10, 2023, in theatres in 3D, 4K HDR, and at a high-frame rate. Having domestic rights, Paramount will probably announce its release date soon as well.

Following a 36-hour flight from New Zealand, Cameron’s longtime producing partner and COO of Lightstorm Entertainment, Jon Landau, teased information about the Titanic re-release on Wednesday at Disney’s CineEurope presentation in Barcelona. He presented a 3D view of the remastered version there.

Titanic Re-Release On The 25th Anniversary

The epic that launched Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio to stardom first debuted in domestic theatres in December 1997 before making its way across the globe over many months. It later won 11 Academy Awards, including those for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Editing, and Best Original Song, among others.

In 2012, a 3D version of the movie was released. Titanic has earned $2.2 billion worldwide, making it the third-highest-grossing film of all time. $659.4 million of the total comes from North America, and $1.542 billion was garnered overseas. Cameron’s Avatar is the top movie of all time worldwide.

The rerelease of Cameron’s original Avatar in a remastered version on September 23 will precede the premiere of the first sequel, Avatar: The Way Of Water, as announced by Disney at CinemaCon in April. The movie debuts overseas on December 14 and arrives in North America on December 16.

Titanic is currently available for streaming on Paramount+.
