The Mission Impossible legend has shared the first look at his next movie, Digger, a comedy directed by four-time Oscar winner Alejandro G. Iñárritu. This isn’t more explosions or life-defying stunts. This is Tom Cruise dancing with a shovel, and honestly, we can’t look away.

After years of playing Ethan Hunt and Maverick, Cruise is stepping out of pure action territory with Digger. This marks his first role outside of the Mission Impossible and Top Gun franchises in a long time. Alejandro G. Iñárritu is known for heavy hitters like The Revenant and Birdman. This new movie represents his first English-language film since The Revenant, and his first-ever collaboration with Cruise. That alone is huge. Iñárritu co-wrote Digger with a team that includes Sabina Berman, Alexander Dinelaris Jr., and Nicolás Giacobone, the latter two of whom worked with him on Birdman.
Rather than action sequences and daredevil moments, fans can probably expect Iñárritu’s signature blend of emotional depth and creative visual storytelling, just with laughs and chaos baked in.
