With the invent of OTT platforms, we have seen the rise of uncomfortable narratives that focus on dark subject matters. While this is a welcome change, this shift in paradigm has led to the downfall of the rom-com genre. Historically, rom-coms have been one of the most popular and profitable genres in cinemas, however, the last decade or so hasn’t been great for the genre. In this tumultuous landscape, enters Sony’s Anyone But You starring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney.
The Will Gluck directorial has emerged to be huge hit at the box office. It has become the highest grossing rom-com since 2016. If you happened to love the film as everyone else and want to own a copy of it, then here’s when it will be available on DVD and Blu-ray.
Anyone But You Blu-ray and DVD Release Date Announced!
According to a new dreleasedates listing, Anyone But You will be available on physical media formats like DVD and Blu-ray on February 27th, 2024. The film also released on online and VOD platforms today i.e., 23rd January 2024. The Sydney Sweeney starrer had an exclusive theatrical run of 32 days, which is more or less the average theatre to digital window for a film distributed by Sony Pictures.
Anyone But You was made on a budget of $25 million and has earned a staggering $100.2 million. The film is a huge box office success much like most of the Sony films this year. There is no update on the film’s streaming release date. However, considering this is a Sony Production, Anyone but You will most likely head to Netflix, thanks to the deal between Sony and the streaming giant.
The movies generally come six months after their theatrical release. Considering that, Anyone but You should be available to stream on Netflix in late June 2024. Along with Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney in the lead, the rom com also boasts a fantastic supporting cast including Darren Barnet, Alexandra Shipp, Hadley Robinson and Dermot Mulroney.
