Blumhouse has emerged as one of the leading studios when it comes to mainstream horror movies. Most of the horror films released in the past few years have been a product of Jason Blum’s company. However, all their films aren’t knockouts unlike a studio like A24. It has been a hit and miss which is what is weird to me. Despite being in the horror game for so long, the studio doesn’t seem to capitalize on the right kind of scripts. That being said, I should also admit that there have been some amazing films produced by the studio as well which have also found box office success. Although, the studio’s latest – Imaginary, isn’t their best. Both according to the critics as well as the audience. Well, if you’re still interested to watch the film but don’t want to go to the theatres then here is the online release date of Blumhouse’s Imaginary.
Blumhouse’s Imaginary Movie Sets Online Debut!
When To Stream reveals that Blumhouse’s Imaginary will be available for purchase or rent on digital and VOD platforms like Vudu, Amazon Prime Video and Apple iTunes from March 29th, 2024. This gives the film a theatre to digital window of 20 days since it premiered in theatres on March 8th, 2024.
This window is a common site for Blumhouse films as their last release which was also a critical bomb but a box office success ($53.7 million against a budget of $15 million), became available on digital platforms just 18 days after its theatrical release. Similar to Night Swim, Imaginary performed poorly with the critics as well with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 25% from 88 reviews (audience score: 54%) and an IMDb rating of 4.8/10.
However, there is something about these Blumhouse horror films, they have their loyal audience which makes them break even at the box office if not make them a success as well. Imaginary has collected $26.4 million against a $10-12 million. Meaning the Jeff Wadlow directorial has recovered its budget despite its critical reception.
Imaginary is still playing in select theatres.
