Last year, many films turned out to be underwhelming despite having cinematic veterans behind them. However, the one film that I’d had hoped to be good, was amazing. I’m talking about the movie Priscilla. Written and directed by Sofia Coppola, the film is based on a 1985 memoir by Priscilla Presley called Elvis and Me. Coppola just like her father is one of the most consistent filmmakers ever. Unfortunately the film doesn’t have the same momentum like Oppenheimer or Poor Things to make its mark at the Oscars but in terms of production design, costumes, writing, acting and even direction, the film is as good as it gets. Cailee Spaeny truly delivers a memorable performance along with Jacob Elordi. Despite the widespread critical acclaim, the Sofia Coppola directorial didn’t fair well financially. If you happened to miss the film in theatres then here’s when you can stream it on Max.
Priscilla Sets Streaming Release Date on Max!
According to a new report from When To Stream, Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla will be available for streaming on Warner Bros’ in house streaming platform Max from February 23rd, 2024. Just like most of the A24’s releases, the film took a long time to find a streaming home. Priscilla now has a theatre to streaming window of 111 days, definitely above industry standards. One has to note that Warner Bros. didn’t produce or distribute the film, the film streaming on their platform is due to some kind of deal being struck.
We also know that Priscilla will be available for purchase on physical media formats like DVD and Blu-ray on February 13th, 2024. These release dates once again prove the assumption that physical media and streaming release dates of any film are always closeby. The film debuted in US theatres on November 3rd, where it grossed $20 million in its run. If you haven’t seen the film yet then I urge you to watch it on Max. You won’t regret it, unless you’re an Elvis fan.
