The Beekeeper is directed by David Ayer, yes the one who directed Suicide Squad for DC. Well, it seems like the director has finally found some time from all of his whining to undertake a new project. Much like Suicide Squad the critics aren’t impressed by his new venture either. I am assuming that the studio behind the film- MGM, also interfered with the product. Well, we’ll know in a few weeks if and when Ayer comes up and blames them. Jokes aside, The Beekeeper has been one of the better January movies. However, if you were unable to catch the film in theatres and want to enjoy the Jason Statham action flick at home, then here is when the David Ayer directorial will release online.
The Beekeeper Digital Release Date Announced!
According to a new report from When To Stream, The Beekeeper will be available on digital and VOD platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Vudu and Apple iTunes for purchase or rent from January 30th, 2024. This means that the film will have a theatre to online release window of 18 days since it release on January 12th. This is a low number given the amount business the film had done.
We’re not talking an all out disaster. The Beekeeper was made on a healthy budget of $40 million and has earned $78.3 million so far. This means that the film has almost recovered all of its budget and if given more exclusive theatre time, then it will earn more. However, it seems like MGM studios believe The Beekeeper will be more successful on digital platforms and that’s a fair strategy as well.
As of now, the physical media release date of the film has not been revealed but if and when it is, I’ll update you. Regarding where exactly you can stream the movie, we don’t know the exact release date but being an Amazon MGM Studios property, The Beekeeper will eventually be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. It has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 71% (Aud score – 93%) and an IMDb rating of 6.7/10.
