Black Phone 2

The Black Phone is a 2022 horror film from Scott Derrickson, starring Ethan Hawke and Mason Thames. It is based on short story, The Black Phone by Joe Hill. The film had me when I found out Ethan Hawke would be playing a serial killer. The film had opened up to outstanding critical reception, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 100%. Considering Derrickson’s filmography, a horror film under him can only thrive. However, I personally didn’t like the film. I thought it was boring and the world building was weak. I don’t know how others liked it so much but it was one of the worst films of the year for me. The Scott Derrickson directorial was made on a budget of $18 million and earned $161 million worldwide. Since, the film was critically and financially successful, will there be a sequel to it?

The Black Phone 2 Can Happen Under One Condition!

In a recent interaction with ComicBook.com, veteran horror director Scott Derrickson was asked whether he’d ever make a follow up to his 2022 supernatural horror film The Black Phone. The director didn’t deny the possibility, however, to make the sequel a reality he has one condition. Here’s his response, It’s possible. It’s not a definite thing, but if it does become definite, you’ll be the first to hear. I can tell you this much, I wouldn’t make a Black Phone sequel without Ethan. I don’t think there’d be any point in doing that.”

Black Phone is based on the short story of the same title by Joe Hill. Set in 1978 Denver, the film stars Ethan Hawke in the role of a terrifying kidnapper known as The Grabber. The Grabber’s most recent victim in TBP is Finney (played by Mason Thames), who discovers that he can contact The Grabber’s dead victims through a disconnected black phone in the soundproof cellar where he is being held hostage. The Black Phone is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
