If there is any actor who has been the face of our generation then it has to be Timothée Chalamet more than anyone. None of his contemporaries even come close the luxuries and reputation that the actor enjoys thanks to his consistently brilliant performances throughout multiple films of various genres. The actor at such a young age has achieved what others chase their entire lifetimes for. With all the fame that he has now, the one role we haven’t seen from this versatile personality is in a superhero film. So, is that a choice or just a coincidence? Let’s find out.
Timothée Chalamet Is Open For A Superhero Film!
In a recent interview with the New York Times, actor Timothée Chalamet revealed why he has been avoiding superhero films for the better part of his career. Chalamet said, “Well, Leonardo DiCaprio said to me, ‘No superhero movies, no hard drugs.’ Which I thought was very good, I follow them both! But the movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, The Dark Knight. If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it.”
This is certainly nice to hear. I understand the hatred for superheroes in the recent times but we shouldn’t forget that the genre has gifted us some of the most memorable performances from actors like Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix’s wildly different Joker iterations. So, an actor of Chalamet’s capabilities should definitely appear in a superhero film as it will only elevate the film’s quality.
Leonardo DiCaprio has certainly stuck to his advice to Chalamet. I’m not talking about the drugs part, I don’t know about that. I’m talking about how the actor hasn’t featured in any superhero film in his decades long career. The closest he came to my knowledge was when he was in talks to play the Riddler in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises which had Heath Ledger reprising his role of Joker.
However, due to the tragic passing of the actor, DiCaprio wasn’t cast as The Riddler and Tom Hardy’s Bane was finalized as the villain in the concluding chapter of the Dark Knight saga.
