In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant regarding Painkiller, producer Eric Newman spoke about how he got involved with Rebel Moon. Newman said, “It’s been so fun. It’s a massive movie. I would sometimes drive on to set and I would look out in the distance and think like, “Could that possibly be part of our show?” And it always was. It’s the biggest thing I’ve ever done, and it’s really cool. I’m excited for people to see it. I think you’ll love it!”
What Fans Can Expect from Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon
Zach Snyder initially developed the project to be a part of the popular Star Wars universe. However, it has developed into its original sci-fi epic. Hence, the film can obtain insights from some of the best elements of Star Wars, including the impacts of other genres. Zack Snyder can implement what he learned from working on Army of the Dead and DCEU to build a large-scale franchise for Rebel Moon.
Rebel Moon revolves around the idea of a small group of rebels versus a larger, tyrannical government. The film explores both sides of the fight, focusing on the character of Kora (Sofia Boutella). Kora is a former member of the Imperium army and has a close awareness of the totalitarian government force. She is trying to make up for her past. Depending on how Kora employs the team, Rebel Moon can bring more morally grey characters into the plot.
The Disney-era Star Wars trilogy notoriously had no real plan for a comprehensive story. The move led to objections regarding the character arcs. The most important lesson Snyder can learn from this experience is to move forward with Rebel Moon with a strategic plan. He can build the world of Rebel Moon in a larger space, leaving room for impromptu new angles through potential movies, comics, spin-offs, or novels.
