The official synopsis of the show reads, “The series follows Darby Hart, an amateur detective. Darby and eight other guests are invited by a reclusive billionaire to participate in a retreat at a remote and dazzling location. When one of the other guests is found dead, Darby must use all of her skills to prove it was murder against a tide of competing interests and before the killer takes another life.” Corrin plays Darby while Clive Owen plays the reclusive billionaire in question.

Created by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, the series is a limited series with eight episodes streaming exclusively on Hulu. Batmanglij shared with Vanity Fair about the character Darby, “We like the idea that Darby, as a 10-year-old or whatever, when she encounters the first dead bodies that her dad is working on, she feels a kinship with the victims. She’s not interested in the psychology of the killer the way we are often culturally obsessed with the dark creativity of the killer—how they did something and how they eluded capture. She’s more interested in the victim.”
