American Horror Story is back again. The 12th season of the show that has kept people at the edge of their seats for eons has returned – and will be premiering and streaming on Hulu from September 20. The FX special is subtitled Delicate this time, as it is an adaptation of the book Delicate Condition by Danielle Valentine. Apparently, the book is an upgraded feminist version of the iconic Rosemary’s Baby. The show is being split into two and will feature series regular Emma Roberts, and newcomer Kim Kardashian – who we did not really see coming when speculating the casting of the series.
American Horror Story: Delicate Why Is This Season A Two-Parter?
The season does not involve Ryan Murphy at the head of it for the first time, with Haley Feiffer, actor and producer stepping into his shoes as the showrunner. The season has been split into two, and this has never happened before when it comes to a singular storyline in AHS. Season 10, that is Death Valley did have two parts to it, but the two parts had completely different storylines. However, since this time the story is adapted from a novel, perhaps two parts are needed to create a comprehensive overarching story arc.
Another reason could also be the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes which could have caused problems with production. For one, Kim Kardashian seems to have not supported the writers’ strike, especially when she proved her nonchalance about the important movement when she crossed the picket lines of the strike. Since filming had to stop because of the strike and the new season also debuts during the strike, there are bound to be problems in the future. There is also word that the members behind the show were told that they would be banned from working in any Ryan Murphy show if they chose to join the picket lines and support the strike. However representatives of Murphy cleared the air around these rumors, stating that he was supportive of the strike and so was everyone working for him – and he respected the movement that was going on.
