The Barbenheimer craze is all over the world. Both the films have wrecked havoc at the box office. Oppenheimer has collected $788.2 million until now. This means that the Christopher Nolan directorial has become the second highest grossing R-rated film in history beating out Deadpool 2’s $786 million. The top 5 R-rated list now looks like Joker (2019) – $1.07 billion, Oppenheimer (2023) – $788.2 million, Deadpool 2 (2018) – $786 million, Deadpool (2016) – $781 million and The Matrix Reloaded – $738 million. Despite having tough competition in markets like India, Oppenheimer has managed to collect a hefty sum. The Nolan blockbuster has crossed the ₹150 crore mark in India despite facing off box office juggernauts like Gadar 2, OMG 2, Jailer and Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The $800 million mark looks inevitable based on current market trends which means the film can topple Inception’s $837.1 million lifetime collection. This would make the film the highest grossing Nolan film apart from the Dark Knight Trilogy.
Barbie‘s success is both surprising and unsurmountable – $1.34 billion. The Great Gerwig directorial will become the highest grossing movie of 2023 soon after it crosses The Super Mario Bros. Movie ($1.36 billion). Oppenheimer and Barbie has also secured a place in the highest grossing films of 2023. While Barbie is completely out of reach but the Nolan flick can definitely surpass Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Barbie will soon become number one. Now list follows, The Super Mario Bros. Movie – $1.36 billion, Barbie – $1.34 billion, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – $845.5 million, Oppenheimer – $788.2 million and Fast X – $704.7 million. The memes and trends have gone so far that now there is a movie being made called Barbenheimer. I’m not kidding. They’re seriously making a movie about it.
Barbenheimer Movie Is In The Works!
A new report from JoBlo a “wild comedy” titled Barbenheimer is in pre-production from the notorious B-movie company, Full Moon Features. Along with the announcement comes the first promotional art and a synopsis about fed-up dolls building an atomic bomb. Read the full synopisis below:
Deep within Dollsville, a group of fed-up female dolls – led by the brilliant Dr. Barbenheimer – build an atomic bomb. Their mission? To bring down the patriarchy once and for all! But as the battle of the sexes swells, will Barbenheimer and her bevy of beauties end up blowing up more than they bargained for? Comedy, drama, action and Armageddon erupt in Full Moon’s latest freaked out fantasy film, BARBENHEIMER!
Barbie’s script has been co-written with Greta Gerwig and her partner Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story, Frances Ha, White Noise). Margot Robbie will star in the titular role with Ryan Gosling playing Ken, Barbie’s male counterpart. The rest of the cast includes, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Issa Rae, Ncuti Gatwa, Alexandra Shipp, Ariana Greenblatt, Sharon Rooney, Ana Cruz Kayne, Emma Mackay and Hari Nef.
