Better Call Saul is a Breaking Bad Spin-off that features one of its best characters in limelight- Saul Goodman. The series gives us a look at Saul Goodman’s past. How he was always a con artist and used to screw over people until his elder brother rescued him and Saul promised him to be good. Thus started his lifelong struggle between his natural talent and his promise to his brother. He has always been a crafty lawyer and can do wonders if he takes cases for criminals or becomes their lawyer. However, his promise coupled with his brother’s debt over his head render him unable to do so. Throughout the series we see him go through this struggle, even after he discovers what a douche his brother is. The show is in his 6th and final season.
We got the 1st part of the season earlier this year but the 2nd part’s episodes are just rolling out. This week we got the 8th episode titled Point and Shoot and boy what an episode it was. The episode left us wanting more but we have to wait a week before we see what happens next. Although, I’m not sure how to react this news. Bob Odenkirk who plays the titular character of the series – Saul Goodman recently commented that the next episode i.e., 9th episode gave him a heart attack. This shook me a little bit. Let’s see what did the actor say.
Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 9 is when Bob Odenkirk had a Heart Attack
While filming Episode 9 titled Fun and Games, the 58-year-old actor collapsed on the set of the show in New Mexico. He was immediately given medical assistance but was then rushed to hospital as the matters got serious. Once his treatment was done it was discovered that he’d suffered a small heart attack. Odenkirk revealed in an interview with THR,
“I didn’t go back to shoot for five weeks. I had a five-week break to recover. And then when I went back, we limited our shooting to 12-hour days… And so they took care of me and I was able to do it, and hopefully, you can’t tell when I had the heart attack and when I didn’t.” He further said, “Next week is the scene where I have the heart attack. And probably about three-quarters of the scene was shot before I had the heart attack, the day of the heart attack, and then the other quarter scene was after.”
Odenkirk stated he had “strange” experience while watching the episode as he’d no memories of that day, “I’m really watching something that I don’t have any memory of acting in, which is a rare thing. I mean, usually you watch [something], and you have some recall of that even if it was shot months ago. But in this case, it’s such a complete blank,” he said. “It’s very strange. I gotta tell you, it’s a weird thing to have lost basically about a week and a half. Clean, just clean, clean nothing. That’s a strange experience anyway. Otherwise, I’m fine.”
We wish Bob Odenkirk to recover soon and be healthy. Meanwhile we’re eagerly waiting for episode 9.
