Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a 2022 first-person shooter video game developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. It is a direct sequel to the 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot, and will serve as the 19th installment in the Call of Duty series overall. It is all set to be released on October 28, 2022 for Windows, PS4, PS 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Beta Date Revealed
A few weeks ago, a leak by Amazon surfaced which hinted at an August Beta release but now it seems like it’s been delayed. Call of Duty: MW2 beta date will now be in mid-September (starting around September 16) with PlayStation getting first access. The information comes from @RalphsValve and whatifgaming. The beta dates as suggested by them are as follows:
Weekend 1 (Playstation Exclusive)
- Early Access: September 15th – 16th
- Open Beta: September 17th – 19th
Weekend 2 (Cross-play Beta)
- Early Access: September 22nd – 23rd
- Open Beta: September 24th – 26th

Modern Warfare II features several returning characters like Captain John Price, Sergeant Kyle “Gaz” Garrick, Lieutenant Simon “Ghost” Riley, Sergeant John “Soap” MacTavish, CIA Station Chief Kate Laswell, and Urzikstani rebel leader Farah Karim. New characters in the upcoming game include Mexican Special Forces Colonel Alejandro Vargas and the CEO of the Shadow Company, Commander Phillip Graves.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 takes place in 2022, 3 years after Price forms the elite multinational counter-terrorist unit Task Force 141 with Gaz, Soap, Ghost and Farah; Vargas joins the team as its latest member. After a missile strike from the United States kills a foreign general, 141 is called in to contain the situation and prevent further escalation, while also combating the terrorist organization Al-Qatala and the drug cartel Las Alamas.
