Anthony Mackie is going to return as the new Captain America after claiming the shield and legacy of Steve Rogers at the end of Falcon and Winter Soldier miniseries. Captain America 4 as well as its director have been confirmed in the recent news. Read on.
Captain America 4 Director, Plot and More
Nigerian-American filmmaker Julius Onah, known for helming the 2018 thriller The Cloverfield Paradox, will direct the fourth installment of the Captain America film for Marvel Studios. This is the first big budget blockbuster to be helmed by Onah in his career. The director is previously well known for his indie roots and low budget films. We have yet to see how a director with not so impressive track record is going to pull off such a big endeavor.
The plot of Captain America 4 is currently under wraps. Anthony Mackie is going to star as lead and reprise his role as Sam Wilson. But his sidekick Falcon is not returning for the film or currently unconfirmed of his presence at this point. Marvel’s Disney+ series, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, concluded with Wilson, after much self-doubt, finally accepting the shield and mantle of Captain America. The plot can take off from that with new challenges to face for Sam as the new Captain America. Malcolm Spellman who served as the creator and head writer for the miniseries Falcon and Winter Soldier is going to work on the script along with Dalan Musson, a staff writer for the show.
It is unclear if Chris Evans is going to appear briefly in the film in a possible cameo, but it’s not entirely impossible. The film currently has no release dates.
