Castlevania: Nocturne is now out on Netflix and we are happy to inform you that it delivers big time! Not only is it a worthy follow up to Castlevania but is also better than it in a few aspects. Even though it has a simple and straight-forward narrative, its compelling characters, animation, action, and hype-worthy ending make it one of the spin-offs ever made. Talking about the ending, season 1 ended on a massive cliff-hanger which was devasting on one end and incredibly exciting on the other. It has left fans rooting for season 2 and that is exactly what we are going to talk about today. Beware that some MAJOR SPOILERS for Castlevania: Nocturne season 1 follow below.
Castlevania Season 2 Announcement Trailer In Out!
Was there any doubt this was not going to happen? Nocturne wasn’t as lucky as to pre-receive multi-season confirmation but season 2 has now been confirmed barely a week after season 1’s release. In the trailer attached above, we see sketch-line glimpses of many of our favourite characters inclusing Alucard, Maria, Richter, Annette, Eduard, and Father Abbott. At the end “2” pops up for a few seconds confirmed season 2. A interesting thing to note here is that Alucard was heavily featured in the trailer and even the thumbnail featured Alucard. This means we are going to see a lot of him in season 2! Castlevania: Nocturne broke into Netflix’ Global Top 10 in the first week and boasts a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Plus the way it ended, left absolutely no doubt about its return.
The only question one needs to ask is when it will return. Now that season 2 has been officially confirmed, Castlevaina has had a great track record in past delivering new seasons in quick successions. Castlevania Season 1 debuted in May 2017 and season 2 debuted the very next year in October 2018. These two seasons wrapped up the Dracula arc and then after a short hiatus it returned for a season 3 in March 2020 after prepping a new arc. To fans delight, Season 4 also debuted the very next year in May 2021 and wrapped up Castlevania altogether. Now after two year hiatus, Castlevania: Nocturne has debuted in September 2023 and if this past pattern is anything to go by, we can expect season 2 by December 2024 itself. Only thing that stands in its way are the WAG strikes which are now all but over!
Nocturne Season 2 Plot, Characters, and Cast
Castlevania Nocturne Season 1 ended with Alucard Tepes’ return where he offered to join the fight against Erzsebet Bathory. Even though, the son of Dracula is a force to be reckoned with, it looks highly improbable that he’ll be able to beat Bathory himself. Bathory showcased extreme strength and was completely untouchable and invincible in the finale. So, although our young heroes will continue to get more powerful, they’ll probably have to find some mythical and mystical way to defeat her. Aside from that, Tera has now been made a vampire and might replace Drolta but we’ll most likely see her struggle with this transformation.
As for Eduardo, we believe he might play a major role in night creature uprising and turn the tides in favor of our heroes. Moving on, Olrox, the best character on the show, might shed some more light on his enmity with Julia Belmont and we’ll surely see a lot more philosophical moments with him. His relationship with Mizrak might also be fully explored and we believe he might end up joining the fight against Bathory. Our leads, Richter, Maria, and Annette will continue to receive more growth and we hope to see Richter find and wield the iconic Belmont family Morning Star whip in season 2. Juste Belmont, as mentioned above, will be explored further in season 2 as well. Following cast and characters will most likely return in season 2:
- Edward Bluemel as Richter Belmont
- Pixie Davies as Maria Renard
- Thuso Mbedu as Annette
- James Callis as Adrian “Alucard” Țepeș
- Nastassja Kinski as Tera Renard
- Sydney James Harcourt as Edouard
- Richard Dormer as the Abbot Emmanuel
- Aaron Neil as Mizrak
- Zahn McClarnon as Olrox
- Franka Potente as Erzsebet Báthory Sekhmet
- Sophie Skelton as Julia Belmont (Flashbacks)
- Iain Glen as Juste Belmont
