We were supposed to get a Timothée Chalamet film earlier this year but thanks to Warner Bros. we have to wait till next till year for that. Relax! I’m talking about Dune 2, not Wonka. The Paul King directorial is unaverred by the Hollywood strikes and is one of the few films that has stuck to its original release date. This release date suits the film anyways, as Wonka has low to no competition during the month of December. Chalamet is probably the most popular actor on the planet, so, him in a family friendly movie about an iconic character releasing during the holiday season, I don’t see how that could go wrong. Wonka has opened up to amazing reviews and is projected to be a hit. Given all this, we have to ask the question whether this is the beginning of a new franchise? Since, that is the direction Hollywood often takes, even director Paul King is no stranger to sequels (Paddington then Paddington 2). So, is there a tease of the future? Let’s find out.
Wonka Does Have A Post Credit Scene!
Defying expectations there is a post credit scene in Wonka. However, it isn’t meant to be a tease for a sequel or some spin-off. In fact, I’m not even sure you can call it a scene since it is really a montage. As the credits roll, Hugh Grant’s Oompa Loompa appears on screen one last time and sings a song for us. The character urges the audience to take their seats as he reveals the fate of all the characters who were previously locked in Mrs. Scrubbit’s laundrette. Starting with Abacus Crunch, the former accountant reunited with his family.
Piper got back to the work she loved after washing sheets for many years. Lottie also returned to her previous job as a telephone operator and comic Larry was able to fulfill his dream of winning back his ex-wife while performing one of his shows. Mrs. Scrubbit and her love interest Bleacher are arrested by the police as they find evidence that the duo had poisoned Wonka’s chocolates. Now coming to one of the more important characters, Noodles finally reunites with her birth mother after being abandoned at Mrs. Scrubbit’s laundrette as an infant.
And to wrap up, Oompa Loompa himself cracked a deal with Wonka to work at his chocolate factory as tasting manager, as was seen in the film’s main plot. Wonka is directed by Paul King (Paddington, Paddington 2) and stars Timothée Chalamet in the titular role along with Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Grant and Sally Hawkins. Timothée Chalamet’s Wonka will release in theatres near you on 15th December 2023.
