Don't Worry Darling: Olivia Wilde Gets Candid About The Controversies!

Don’t Worry Darling is a new thriller helmed by Olivia Wilde that stars Florence Pugh and Harry Styles in the lead and the supporting cast includes Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, Nick Kroll, Kiki Layne and Sydney Chandler. The film’s story circles around the people who is living in an experimental community, a housewife starts to suspect that her husband’s company is hiding disturbing secrets. Promotional material for the film has been circulating around in theatres for a while. The film’s trailer looked quite pretty and had an eerie vibe to it. While Wilde is directing the film, the screenplay of the film is by Katie Silberman, based on a story by Carey Van Dyke, Shane Van Dyke and Silberman.

More than the film the controversies around the film’s production and promotion have set the internet on fire. While we’re all aware of the “Spitting Incident” between Harry Styles and Chris Pine at the Venice Film Festival, there is another feud that started on the sets of the film. The feud between director Olivia Wilde and lead star Florence Pugh, while we have previously talked about the details of the controversy, today the director herself has gotten candid about it and addressed the controversies.

Don’t Worry Darling: Olivia Wilde Thrashes the Media!

In an interview with Elle Magazine, Olivia Wilde addressed the controversies and talked about how these nonsense talks have diverted the audience away from the film that matters and has left actors personal life to be exploited. Controversies not only limited to feuds but also the movie features racy sex scenes, which also overshadowed the story of the film. The actor-turned-director has been at the center of most of the controversy and that has eclipsed the actual movie in favor of gossip.

The Booksmart director of Don’t Worry Darling said, “It is shocking to see so many untruths about yourself traded as fact. Florence had a really wise comment that we didn’t sign up for a reality show. And I love that she put it that way, because it’s as though the general public feels that if you are making something that you’re selling to the public, you somehow have accepted that your life will be torn to shreds by a pack of wolves. No, that’s actually not part of the job description. Never was.”

Wilde didn’t talk about the truthfulness about the controversies simply the aftermath or effect on them on the actors and her personal life. While she did thrash the media and what she said was very true, she seems to disregard a very important thing. Her film when premiered at Venice Film Festival had gotten absolutely worse reviews. If it wasn’t for the controversies the film may not even have recovered its costs. It is because of the controversies surrounding the film that it has collected $70 Million worldwide over a budget of $35 Million.
