Dragon Ball Super Galactic Patrol - Plot, Moro, New Transformations and More

Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol is officially in production and was unveiled at the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event in January 2026. It marks the animeโ€™s direct continuation of the story after the Universe Survival Saga, which ended the original Dragon Ball Super broadcast in March 2018. This project will adapt the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga from the Dragon Ball Super manga. This is often known among fans simply as the Moro arc.ย  Official visuals and announcements show Goku and Vegeta wearing Galactic Patrol symbols on their clothing and standing as new allies to this cosmic peacekeeping force.

While no official release date has been confirmed yet, reputable reports strongly suggest a 2027 premiere rather than 2026. Largely because the franchise is releasing a remastered version of older content first.

Where the Story Fits

Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol - Plot, Moro, New Transformations and More

Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol is not a reboot. It is a sequel that continues the narrative from the end of the original anime series. It is picking up where the Universe Survival Saga (including the Tournament of Power) left off.ย Chronologically, the Galactic Patrol storyline takes place after the events of the Broly film and the mangaโ€™s earlier arcs, but before later material like the Granolah the Survivor Saga.

The animeโ€™s adaptation will cover the Moro arc chapters from the manga, which spans 26 chapters, running from the middle of chapter 42 through chapter 67. And it looks like the story may eventually move on to even more arcs beyond that, like Granolahโ€™s. According to the official synopsis,ย the story follows the Universe Survival Arc and sees Son Goku and Vegeta team up with the Galactic Patrol, the galaxy’s peacekeeping force, to face a new threat known as โ€œPlanet-Eaterโ€ Moro.

Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol – The Moro Threat Explained

The heart of the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga is the ancient villain Moro. It is known as the Planet-Eater in both manga and announcement descriptions.ย Moro is no ordinary foe. He has magic-based powers that allow him to absorb life energy from planets and living beings. That alone makes him a dangerous threat that weakens fighters the more he drains their power.

Unlike past villains who often relied purely on raw strength, Moroโ€™s energy absorption makes traditional Saiyan transformations less effective. Hence, Goku, Vegeta, and their allies need to rethink how they fight rather than just how strong they can get.

The Galactic Patrol Role

The Galactic Patrol is an interstellar safety force in the Dragon Ball universe. Tasked with maintaining peace across countless worlds. In this arc, they recruit Goku and Vegeta to help stop Moro and his breakout from captivity in the Galactic Prison.

Familiar characters like Jaco and others associated with this peacekeeping group will return. This team-up among Earthโ€™s greatest defenders will tackle the threat on the line.

Will There Be New Transformations in Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol?

If there is one thing Dragon Ball franchise is known for, it is the never ending new transformations of its main characters. From hard earned and well deserved ones like Goku’s SSJ, Gohan’s SSJ2, and Goku’s Ultra Instinct to sudden and unexplained ones like Super Saiyan Blue or Beast Gohan, there have been more transformations than one can count. So the obvious question fans ask is will there be any new transformations in the Galactic Patrol saga? And the answer is “kind of”.

Without spoiling much, Moro the villain will surely undergo a couple of transformations and new forms just like most DBZ villains. As for Goku and Vegeta, well they won’t be getting any new hair dyes this time but will surely unlock their potential further and develop new techniques which would be way more fun to watch than transformations. In fact, one of the main reasons manga fans loved Moro arc was because it avoids transformations in the favor of better writing and well earned and hard fought wins.

What This Means for the Animeโ€™s Comeback

Dragon Ball Super Season 2 - Anime Return Date, Announcements, and More Moru vs Goku

This announcement officially marks the return of Dragon Ball Super anime storytelling. Literally after nearly a decade without new arcs being animated. Fans have been waiting for this moment for a long time now and though they still have to wait another year or so to finally see it, at least they know for sure now that it is coming!

Before Galactic Patrol arrives, the franchise is also releasing a remastered version of earlier Dragon Ball Super content (starting with the Beerus Saga) in 2026, which will give fans a refreshed look at the beginning of the Super story before the new material arrives. While some fans found this news to be hype worthy, others felt annoyed at the fact that there are already 3 different versions of the Battle of Gods arc (manga, movie, and Dragon Ball Super arc 1).
