HBO has developed a good habit of delivering phenomenal shows which become worldwide sensations. They were the network behind Succession, House of the Dragon, The Wire, The Last of Us, Westworld, and TV’s most popular show ever Game of Thrones. It is almost a mark of quality if HBO is coming up with a new show. Euphoria is one such show that has now gotten worldwide recognition and has entered into the HBO Hall of Fame. So far, there are just two seasons of the show but fans can’t wait for season three. So, in this article, we have compiled all major information you need to know about the Euphoria Season 3.
Euphoria Season 3: Release Date and Delay
The third season of Euphoria was unofficially confirmed to be under development on January 11, 2022. Later, on February 4, 2022, HBO officially announced the renewal of the series for a third season. Euphoria season 3 production began in February 2023 in Los Angeles, California, and the show was aiming for an early to mid 2024 release. The filming for the show was supposed to start by September 2023, but owing to the writers and SAG-AFTRA strikes, it has been delayed indefinitely.
So, the harsh reality is that the filming for Euphoria season 3 hasn’t even begun yet. HBO & Max CEO Casey Bloys stated to Deadline, that the show should “ideally” be released in 2025. Now adding the gravity of ongoing strikes, at this point, even a 2025 release seems difficult.
Euphoria’ is one of those that we had begun writing in tandem with post-production on Idol but at this point, we don’t have countless scripts. We can’t start shooting, so the delivery of that show — ideally in 2025 — will be determined on when we can pick back up with Sam, who at this point is all pencils down and just finishing posts on Idol.
Season 3 Cast, Characters, and Plot
Although, there is no official plot synopsis, Euphoria Season 3 will tie up loose ends and reunite characters to resolve their conflicts. As reported by costume designer Heidi Biven, we might see a 5 year time jump where main cast is not in high school anymore. Biven stated that Dorothy’s not in Kansas anymore and it’ll be something new for the audience to discover. We also might dive deeper into Cassie’s dark side, and might also see someone character redemption for Cal. Aside, from this, Lexi and Rue’s friendship will also be explored and we might learn more about Laurie as well. As for the cast and characters, we will see:
