Evil Dead Rise is the hottest film on the planet unless you’re a bhai fan, if so then of course it is Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. The revered horror franchise which is often regarded as Sam Raimi’s brainchild. The original Evil Dead trilogy are one of the most consistent horror films. Even the 2013 reboot was received well. Last year’s Barbarian had nothing to do with the franchise and yet fans drew parallels. As soon as the trailer for this film dropped, the internet went crazy simply because of how awesome it was and this is coming from someone who is not a fan of this franchise. The Evil Dead films have always been cheap to make and they always generate a profit. The newest film is once again doing wonders at the box office, so much so that the opening weekend collection of EDR is as much as 10 times of the original Evil Dead.
Horror Fans Are Celebrating Evil Dead Rise!
Deadline reports that EDR collected a total of $23.5 million in its opening weekend which is nearly ten times more than the original film’s total box office collection. Even if we take the inflation adjusted figure as well, Evil Dead Rise crushes that figure as well. The inflation adjusted figure is $8 million. The new film still collected three times more than The Evil Dead’s total box office collection. EDR was made in $19 million and seeing the hype around the film it is inevitable that the sequel is going to generate a massive profit.
Even with this figure, the film came at no. 2 on the box office as Super Mario Bros. is still the number one film at the box office. However, EDR did beat Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant and Amazon’s & Ben Affleck’s Air.
