We all know about the Fast and Furious franchise. Whether you love the movies or hate them you can’t deny the success of franchise ($6.6 billion worldwide). There have been total nine Fast & Furious barring any spin-offs and prequels. The tenth installment of the franchise – Fast X is released this year. The film was the first part of a three part finale. Despite having a bombastic opening weekend, Fast X did average at the box office something that is rare with the Fast franchise. Fast and Furious 9 struggled to make a mark at the box office because it was released in an active pandemic. Made on a massive budget of $340 million, Fast X just earned $720 million. Considering the film didn’t have a great theatrical run, most of you are waiting to watch this guilty pleasure at home to your leisure. Let’s find out when you can do that.
Fast X Reportedly Coming To Streaming In August!
The reason Fast X is taking so much time to start streaming despite having mediocre theatrical run is because Universal Studios is part of an ongoing deal with Peacock – NBC’s streaming service. As part of the deal, Universal has to bring their latest movies to the streaming platform within 120 days of their theatrical release. Another clause in the agreement sets out a window of 18 months from a movie’s streaming release date as long as it is on Peacock for the first and last four months. While it can be shopped elsewhere for the middle ten months.
So, Vin Diesel’s Fast X will arrive first on Peacock. Considering Universal’s track record with big franchise (Jurassic World: Dominion and Minions: The Rise of Gru) releases, Fast X will come to Peacock around two to three weeks after its physical release which is August 8th. Keeping in mind Peacock releases its new movies on Fridays, Fast X can start streaming August 25th. This would make the Louis Leterrier directorial an above-average theatre to streaming window – 98 days.
