If you are unaware, Ghosts is an American television sitcom adapted from the British series of the same name. Port & Wiseman serve as showrunners for the show which premiered in October 2021. The show follows Samantha and Jay Arondekar, who inherit a beautiful country house only to find that it is inhabited by ghosts. It opened to mostly positive critical reception and thanks to that, it was renewed for a season 2 in January 2022. The second season debuted in September 2022 and since then, fans have been waiting for a season 3. Well, we have all the information you need to know about it!
When Will Ghosts Season 3 Release?
As you may know Ghosts was renewed was a season 3 in January 2023 after a widely positive reception. Unlike previous seasons, Season 3 will most likely consist of less episodes to to ensure its release schedule can return to normal timing with Season 4. Apparently, Season 3 was supposed to begin production this year but due the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes it was put on a 5 month complete halt since May. In fact before the strikes, had scheduled Ghosts Season 3 to air on Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET. However, due to the strikes, the slot was filled with repeats of past episodes, and later followed by airings of the original U.K. BBC show from which CBS’ Ghosts is adapted from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET.
Good news is now the WAG strikes have ended and Ghosts has confirmed that the writers’ room has now reopened beginning October 2. So, the production on the new season can begin, however, the SAG-AFTRA strikes aka the writers strike continue. Best case scenario is that the actors’ strikes end by the time the writing for Ghosts season 3 in wrapped up. This would help quicken the filming process on actors’ return and ensure that season 3 releases by Spring 2024.
Season 3 Cast and Plot
Ghosts Season 3 is will pick up exactly where Season 2 left off. The ghosts find themselves in a mess when they take it into their own hands to find the person who killed Alberta about a hundred years ago. At the end, one of the ghosts passed onto the other side but it wasn’t revealed who. So, season 3 would surely shed some more light on the identity of this Ghost. Plus it is a sitcom, so each episode will have multiple subplots of its own and its really hard to guess what they’ll be.
As for the cast, the leads Samantha and Jay Arondekar, played by Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar, will definitely return. Aside from them and the most of the returning cast from previous seasons, there will be some guest appearances as well. The full returning cast list is as follows:
