Details of God of War: Ragnarok ‘s collector’s editions are said to have leaked amid a whirlwind of rumors about an upcoming announcement regarding the game’s release date. The information was shared on Exputer by well-known source Tom Henderson, who also confirmed that the announcement’s cancellation did not indicate a delay for God of War Ragnarök. Henderson would not elaborate on what transpired behind the scenes, but he did disclose designs for two different Collections Editions: the Collectors Edition and the Jotnar Edition, which references the Jötunheim giants.
Two God of War: Ragnarok Leaked Collector’s Editions
A 1:1 scale replica of Thor’s Mjolnir hammer, which was briefly teased at the very end of God of War 2018, is included with both editions. Given that Thor will play a significant role in the upcoming sequel, the powerful weapon will probably be prominently featured in the game. Those who buy the whole Collectors Edition also receive a map of the world, badges and potentially other additional items.
It doesn’t come as much of a surprise that Mjolnir would feature prominently in the Collector’s Editions. The previous game’s hidden ending had a brief appearance by Thor, and the first trailer for God of War Ragnarok hinted at a massive fight between Thor and Kratos, the main character of the series. Thor’s voice actor, Ryan Hurst, recently disclosed that this was his first time working with motion capture technology, which had a “steep learning curve” but was a rewarding experience.
Xbox is giving away another limited edition Series X to promote the release of the new Marvel movie, Thor: Love and Thunder. The boxy console’s design is a perfect fit for Asgard, which is covered with skin to recreate the God of Thunder’s hammer. The Xbox’s promotional picture shows the weapon’s handle protruding from the rear and fractures along its faces to reflect how it reformed after being destroyed by Hela, the Goddess of Death, in Thor: Ragnarok.
God of War Ragnarok should be available sometime in 2022 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
