The MonsterVerse was steered towards a new direction with the release of Godzilla vs Kong, thus, it should come as no surprise to fans that a sequel is in the works. The project will be directed once more by Adam Wingard, and filming has recently begun overseas. And now it appears that the unnamed sequel’s working title has appeared online
As filming for Godzilla vs. Kong 2 got underway, social media erupted when a picture was shared online by the Twitter account @KDM_Monsters of what appeared to be a clapboard from the set. The neon piece hardly displays any spoilers, however, it does have Wingard’s name below the working title “Origins.” You can check out the image here.

Fans will undoubtedly find this working title intriguing, and netizens are already discussing its significance. The plot of Godzilla vs. Kong is a mystery, and we are not even sure which monsters will be featured in the movie. On the other hand, the purple-blue color of this clapboard lends itself to Godzilla, and there is a high possibility that both kaiju will appear in some way. The movie will probably star the King of the Monsters, and its working title promises to reveal more about their past.
After all, earlier MonsterVerse movies made passing references to Godzilla’s long history, but there is still a lot to learn about the past. The title “Origins” implies that this film will delve into the roots of Godzilla.
As of now, not many details are available for the Godzilla vs. Kong sequel, except that Dan Stevens will play the film’s lead character. Other rumors suggest that the sequel will center on Kong’s son rather than another battle between the two titular monsters.
Godzilla Vs. Kong: Origins is scheduled to hit theatres on March 15, 2024.
