The Wizarding World is currently in a bit of a pickle after widespread hatred for J.K. Rowling as well as the poor performance of Fantastic Beasts series. The fate of the Fantastic Beasts saga and the remaining 2 films, i.e., Fantastic Beasts 4 and Fantastic Beasts 5, currently hangs in balance as they will probably not get made now. But that doesn’t mean it is the end of our beloved wizarding world’s live action ventures. Harry Potter is one of the most profitable franchise for WB and even though Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore wasn’t that successful, Hogwarts Legacy has brought back the hype around the Potterverse and people are now looking forward to what’s next. For those fans, we have some bitter-sweet news!
Is A Harry Potter HBO Reboot Series In Works?
If you have heard the news about a Harry Potter web series in the past few hours, then yes you have heard right! As per the latest updates by reliable sites like IGN, Variety etc, Warner Bros. is looking to close deal for ‘Harry Potter’ HBO Max Live-Action Series! The news was first reported by Bloomberg, which suggested that the project would be directly based on J.K. Rowling’s best-selling book series. Not just that, it will probably have 7 seasons with each season covering up one book in the series. While some of you might get excited hearing this, most of the fans are unanimously saying just one thing – “WHY IN THE HELL?”
That’s right, fans haven’t accepted this news with a warm welcome but are instead bashing the idea. Here’s the reason. The 8 part Harry Potter movie series was absolutely brilliant and brought the books to life with almost perfect accuracy. The series performed well almost every way and made Harry Potter as well as the entire cast and crew in the series, a global sensation. When most of us think about any of the characters, the film interpretations are exactly what come to our mind. So, with such a perfect series there was absolutely no need for this reboot series. None of the fans will receive the same story, and same characters the way they received the film series and the HBO series might actually end up ruining the nostalgia for fans. Can you really blame fans? You cannot! There is no way they can replicate, or recreate this series as it has a really special place in the hearts of the fans. What fans need is either a new blood, or spin off projects, or exactly what Hogwarts Legacy did. Fans would even accept a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie but they will not accept or appreciate a reboot of a series which made Harry Potter what it is! We are just as taken aback and shocked as the rest of the world and at this moment the word “unnecessary” can very well be replaced by “Harry Potter HBO Reboot”.
