The classic adventure franchise of the 80’s is back once again with Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones for the fifth installment, which is being helmed by James Mangold of Logan (2017) fame. The film is currently scheduled to release on June 30, 2023 and the filming concluded earlier this year in February, 2022. Ford’s character of Indiana Jones will pass the torch to some younger protagonist to continue the spirit of adventure and lead further movies in the franchise. So if you guys are rooting for the final outing of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, we’re sorry but we have some bad news for you.
Indiana Jones 5 – Leaked Plot Details Sound Really Bad!
Indiana Jones 5 has had its first set of test screenings and one of the viewers who attended one has shared his thoughts on the film. From what it looks like the film isn’t going to a good one and the reason he’s claiming it didn’t is because basically everyone at his showing disliked it. Obviously MASSIVE SPOILERS, courtesy of r/LeaksandRumors have below.
Marion appears toward the beginning of the movie and encourages Indy to come out of retirement for one last adventure. Mutt is mentioned but not seen in this scene. Sallah appears for one scene. Phoebe Waller Bridge is playing “Helena Brody”, the granddaughter of Marcus Brody, and is quite possibly one of the most annoying characters put to screen. The user went on to say that they wouldn’t be surprised if she wrote her own lines. She constantly lectures Indy about his “privilege”.
Harrison looks like he doesn’t want to be there the entire movie. Mads Mikkelsen is playing a younger version of Toht from the first film and he does a decent job, something he also did for Fantastic Beasts 3. Antonio Banderas is probably the best part of this movie and that’s probably the only reason his character’s death had any impact. He sacrifices himself to save Indy and Helena right before they get sent back in time.
The main McGuffin is a golden clock that’s the key to an ancient time portal. A group of neo-Nazis is trying to track it down before Indy can. First they go to ancient Rome for a bit but they go back through and end up in 1933. A significant chunk of the movie is set in 1933 and the main “trio” is old Indy, Helena, and younger Indy. In the user’s screening, the movie ends with young Indy sacrificing himself to save Helena, causing old Indy to fade away like Marty does in BTTF. Helena picks up his hat and the movie ends with a montage of her in iconic Indiana Jones scenes set to the John Williams score.
The movie also had a “Helena will return” thing at the end sort of like what Marvel movies do. Overall, the user rated the film 2/10, which sounds a bit too exaggerated to be honest. The user said, they’d rather watch Crystal Skull 50 times than sit through this atrocity again and suggested that Disney does some serious reshoots or just cans the movie entirely. Of course it is a 4chan leak, so it has equal probability of being true as well as false. In the recent past, most of the 4chan leaks have proven to be true but till a more detailed review and plot summary comes out, we’d ask you not to take it too seriously.
That said, the chances to Indiana Jones 5 being good, have been thin since the project was announced, but hey, as fans all we can do is hope. Indiana Jones 5 is all set to release in theatres on June 30, 2023.
