Invincible season 1 arrived on Prime Video last year and was without any doubt a gamechanger. It opened to widespread critical acclaim as well as a highly positive reviews from the viewers. Owing to all that Amazon Prime announced its plans for at least two more seasons, but we still have no idea when we can expect to see its return. But we now are convinced that Invincible Season 2 will surely not return in 2022. Here’s why.
Will Invincible Season 2 Release in 2022?
Back in March, the showrunner Simon Racioppa said, in an interview, that he and his team are working really hard on the show and that it was still under development. He said that they want to perfect it and present a quality show and that basically confirmed that we won’t see the show anytime soon. Reason behind it is that they still haven’t wrapped up the production process and then there would be post production and marketing activities as well. The last we heard about the show is this tweet below.

As you can see the tweet was posted on April 26 and it seems like it was an announcement of voice acting commencement. So, it is pretty clear that the show is still in early stages of productions and there is absolutely no chance it will come out in 2022. Amazon Prime has a lot on their plates and it takes a lot of time to make quality seasons like The Boys season 3 which is totally bonkers. Even before the end of Season 3, production commencement of The Boys season 4 was announced for August 22. That aside, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is also set to debut in September along with a God of War live action series production commencement.
So, with so many A lister titles, they simply don’t have enough time to accommodate another one this year. And even if I am wrong (which I highly doubt), Invincible Season 2 won’t release before end of December 2022. Another thing is that IMDB also mentions season 2 release slate of 2023. If my guess is right, the right to release Invincible season 2 would be in March 2023 which is the month season 1 came out. Of course, it could be released sooner but a 2022 release doesn’t have high probability.
While you wait for Invincible Season 2 watch The Boys: Diabolical. It shares the same vibes as Invincible and is shorter than many feature films out there. Give it a try if you haven’t and let me know!
