John Wick is arguably the most famous character played by Keanu Reeves. The Matrix star played John Wick in the 2014 Action/Thriller film and since then has become a fan favorite. The film did wonders critically and at the Box Office as well. As much of the credit of that goes to Keanu Reeves, the film too was extremely gripping and introduced us to a new world. A world unknown to us until now- the world of assassins. The film started on the point that John Wick’s dog had been murdered and after that it is a sheer bloodbath. The film had two follow ups where we see Reeves reprising his role as John Wick and both installments continued the success march John Wick has had. John Wick: Chapter 4 is part of the two part finale the creators have planned for Keanu Reeves’ character.
The 4th addition to the franchise couples Keanu Reeves with his Matrix co-star Laurence Fishburne. After a brief tease of the film at last year’s CinemaCon, Lionsgate has released an official image of Keanu Reeves as John Wick. The image was delivered via text, to fans who had signed up for updates from the studio over the course of the last year or so, after a brief tease sent out via text earlier this week. John is still on the run from the world of assassins and is likely to have some of the largest-scale action set pieces yet in the new franchise. A class war has been caused because of John’s actions between the different factions of the assassin community.
John Wick: Chapter 4 First Look has Keanu Reeves standing amidst Candles
If you remember the ending of Chapter 3 an injured John was delivered to Bowery King for protection. That was a set up for the next film. Laurence Fishburne who plays the Bowery King had previously mentioned that this relationship between Bowery and John in only going to grow deeper than it did last time. In an interview with Collider Fishburne mentioned,
“I should be going to Berlin within another couple of months or so, I read the script. It’s really, really cool. As much as it’s the same world as the other three films, it’s just deeper. It’s much deeper in terms of the code of the assassin. And the relationship that he has with one character in particular who I think Mr. Watanabe is playing…is really the heart and soul of it.”
Creator Derek Kolstad previously told to Collider, “I’m actually not involved in four and five. No. At a certain stage of the studio will tell you, your creation is graduated, and you wish it well. I’m still close with Chad [Stahelski], still close with Dave [Leitch], and I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m excited to see.”
The John Wick franchise is so big right now there is a spin-off under development. The details of it are scant but of what we know it will be TV expansion of the franchise and will follow the infamous assassins world hotel.
John Wick: Chapter 4 is slated to release to on 24th March 2023.
