John Wick: Chapter Four which released this year left me appalled, easily the worst of the franchise. What is annoying me is the overwhelmingly positive response to the film. One of the things that I didn’t like about the film was the ending. It felt abrupt to me. John Wick shouldn’t die out of a bullet after surviving almost every danger in the world. The franchise ended on a totally awful note for me. However, it turns out that there is another installment of the franchise in the making as Lionsgate officially announced it back in May. However, since then we haven’t received any update or comment regarding this announcement from Keanu Reeves or even director Chad Stahelski until today.
John Wick: Chapter 5 Might Not Happen Despite Lionsgate Announcement!
The Happy Sad Confused Podcast with Josh Horowitz recently did an episode where they interviewed John Wick franchise director Chad Stahelski. In the interview, Stahelski clearly explains how Reeves is feeling about returning for John Wick 5. Check out Stahelski’s full comment about Reeves below:
“Yeah, Keanu and I have talked. Keanu, if you ask him right now, ‘Would you do John Wick 5?’ He’d be, ‘f–k yeah’. But then he’d look and go, ‘Well, what is it? I have no f–king idea.’ That’s all. Believe me. It’s not like, ‘We’re going to figure it out today.’ Like, look man, we’re going to do our other stuff for a little bit, but if I was driving in the car or if I was walking the dog and an idea hit me, within 30 seconds I’d be on the phone to Keanu and we’d be riffing.”
John Wick: Chapter 4 was not only a hit with critics, but it ended up making $432.2 million worldwide, a franchise record and was made on only $100 million. The franchise stars Keanu Reeves in the lead role. The other cast includes Clancy Brown, Donnie Yen, Bill Skasrsgard, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins, Marko Zaror, Rina Sawayama, Ian Mcshane, Lance Reddick and Laurence Fishburne.
